An in-conversation about engineering while Black
Black scientists have a rich history in the STEM field. Yet, there isn't enough support when it comes to seeing Black engineers thrive. Reason being, is because they aren't always set up for success; and lack the social capital needed in order to flourish. Many get hired to code, but not to make vital decisions that could make a serious impact.
We need more Black representation in senior engineering roles. Function-biased applications without inclusion leads to Anti-Black output. App algorithms and facial recognition technology with glaring blind spots in historical and current data collection, shows how the lack of diversity in engineering affects overall business performance.
This needs to change!
